Connecting U – Community Guidelines
Last Updated: May 10, 2025
At Connecting U, we’re building more than just an events platform — we’re creating a community. These guidelines help ensure that space stays respectful, welcoming, and inclusive.
By using the platform, you agree to follow these guidelines in all areas, including events, groups, private messages, comments, and Pages. These rules apply to all user activity across Connecting U.
Our Community Values
We support local events, meaningful connection, and community collaboration. We value kindness, respect, diversity, and creativity.
Be Respectful
- Treat others with dignity and care.
- Harassment, bullying, personal attacks, or hateful comments will not be tolerated.
- Disagree respectfully and constructively.
- Avoid sarcasm or inflammatory remarks that derail conversations.
Keep It Safe and Inclusive
- Discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, or background is not allowed.
- Everyone should feel safe participating, regardless of their identity or beliefs.
- Consider accessibility in your events and content.
Use Appropriate Language and Content
- Avoid vulgar, offensive, or aggressive language in public areas.
- Adult-oriented content (e.g., nightlife, burlesque) must be clearly labeled and shared only in private or hidden groups with 18+ restrictions.
- Pornographic, explicit, or graphic content is not allowed anywhere on the platform.
- Event listings and group content must remain professional, tasteful, and community-appropriate.
No Spam or Overposting
- Do not flood groups or feeds with repetitive posts.
- Only promote your event or business in spaces where it’s clearly allowed.
- Don’t send unsolicited promotions via private message.
- Avoid copy-pasting the same promotional content across multiple areas unless permitted.
Protect Privacy — Yours and Others’
- Never post someone else’s private information without their consent.
- Don’t share screenshots of private messages without permission.
- Be mindful when discussing sensitive topics in public threads.
- If there’s a problem, report it — don’t escalate it publicly.
Respect Groups and Event Spaces
- Follow each group or event’s specific rules.
- Stay on topic and contribute constructively.
- Don’t troll, bait, or derail discussions.
- Community leaders — including page owners, group managers, and moderators — are expected to model respectful behavior and fairly enforce rules within their spaces. Abuse of moderator tools may result in review or removal of privileges.
Moderation and Enforcement
Our team and approved moderators may review content — including public, private, or hidden — to enforce these guidelines and maintain a safe community.
We may take the following actions:
- Remove or edit content that violates the rules.
- Temporarily mute or restrict accounts.
- Permanently suspend accounts in severe or repeated cases.
You can request a review of any moderation decision by contacting events@connectingu.ca. We aim to be transparent and fair, and we will explain decisions when possible.
Use of Automated Moderation Tools
Connecting U may use automated tools to help flag inappropriate content or behavior. These tools assist with moderation but do not make final decisions. All actions are reviewed by a human moderator.
Report Issues — Don’t Ignore Them
If you witness harassment, abuse, spam, or unsafe behavior, report it using in-platform tools or contact us directly. We take all reports seriously and aim to respond within two business days.
Final Word
This is your community. Whether you’re hosting events, joining groups, or offering support — your contributions matter.
Let’s build something that reflects the best of our communities: Connection. Compassion. Shared purpose.
