Last Updated: May 10, 2025

Welcome

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of connectingu.ca, operated by Connecting U. By using our platform, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and, if applicable, the Event Host Agreement. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

Who Can Use Connecting U

You must be the age of majority in your province or territory to create an account. Minors cannot register or use the platform directly.

  • Guest Attendees – Can view events and manage tickets (no social features)
  • Community Members – Free accounts with access to the Community Hub
  • Event Hosts – Paid accounts for posting and managing events, with tools to promote and organize

Right to Refuse Service

We reserve the right to refuse access to the platform or certain services to anyone, at any time, for any reason, including violation of these Terms or local laws.

Minors & Youth Participation

While minors cannot create accounts, parents or guardians may purchase tickets for them or register them for family-friendly events through their own account. Connecting U does not monitor or supervise in-person interactions involving minors. Event Hosts are responsible for clearly labeling age-appropriate content and ensuring a safe environment.

Account Use & Conduct

You are responsible for anything done through your account. Do not:

  • Share false, harmful, or illegal content
  • Spam or harass others
  • Violate platform policies or laws
  • Use automation or bots without permission

Group managers and moderators must act fairly and respectfully. Users who break the rules may lose access to their account or content.

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account login credentials. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, notify us immediately. We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from your failure to safeguard your login information.

Events, Tickets & Refunds

Event Hosts can use Connecting U’s ticket sales system to manage tickets. Service fees may apply and will be shown during setup. Full hosting and ticketing terms are available in the Event Host Agreement.

Event Hosts are responsible for setting ticket policies, managing communications, and issuing refunds. Guests and Members should contact the Event Host directly with any questions or refund requests. Connecting U is not responsible unless we host the event ourselves.

Free Trial & Memberships

Event Hosts receive a 15-day free trial with full access and no payment required. You will not be automatically charged unless you choose a paid plan after the trial.

After the trial, you can choose a paid monthly or yearly plan. If you don’t subscribe, your hosting features will be paused.

Subscription fees may be subject to applicable Canadian taxes based on your province or territory.

We may offer free access to selected community-focused groups at our discretion.

Email Communication Consent

By creating an account, you agree to receive essential service-related communications from Connecting U, including notifications about your account, platform changes, or relevant policy updates. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

Content & Privacy

You own what you post. By uploading content, you allow Connecting U to use it to operate and promote the platform. Content in public areas may be visible to visitors or indexed by search engines. For more on how we handle your data, read our Privacy Policy.

Intellectual Property

All content and materials provided by Connecting U — including the platform design, logos, and original features — are the intellectual property of Connecting U. You may not copy, reuse, or distribute these materials without permission.

Safety & Monitoring

We use tools (including automated systems) to help flag harmful or rule-breaking content. Some moderation tools may involve AI-based systems that assist in identifying potential violations. These tools do not replace human judgment — final moderation decisions are made by our team.

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts to protect the safety and integrity of the community.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or any other policy. If your account is removed, refunds for any subscription will be determined at our discretion.

Some content created by a terminated account — such as posts, group discussions, or event listings — may remain visible unless formally requested for removal. Content may also be retained for legal or compliance reasons.

Platform Changes & Beta Features

We may test new features or make changes to the platform at any time. Beta tools are optional and provided “as is.”

Third-Party Services & Links

The platform may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as Stripe for payments). We are not responsible for the content or practices of these external providers. Use them at your own discretion and review their terms independently.

Accessibility & Language

Connecting U is currently offered in English only. If you need accessibility support or have suggestions, email events@connectingu.ca.

Disputes & Legal Stuff

If you have a dispute with another user, contact us at events@connectingu.ca. We may help but are not required to.

These Terms are governed by Canadian and Alberta law. Legal disputes must be resolved in Alberta.

Legal Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

Connecting U is provided “as is.” We do our best to maintain a secure and reliable platform, but we can’t guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free service. We are not liable for any damages, losses, or disputes arising from your use of the platform.

By using Connecting U, you agree to use it responsibly and to indemnify us from claims related to your activity on the platform or violations of these Terms.

Contact & Updates

We’ll notify you of major updates to these Terms through your account email. Keep your info up to date and review these Terms regularly.
